Bored? Head Out for Some Local, Pet Friendly Fun!
While Englishtown and Monroe Township may not be huge, dog-centric cities like San Francisco or Austin, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of pet friendly fun to be had right here at home. Because pets are our top priority here at Mobile Vet M.D., we’ve done our research to find some paw-sitively paw-some activities to get you and your pooch out of the house this fall.
Local Pet Friendly Fun
With more and more places opening their doors and outdoor areas to pets, it’s never been easier to come up with pet friendly fun the whole family can enjoy. Consider the following opportunities:
- Spooky Sprint 5K and K-9 Costume Dash – Join other runners and walkers with (or without) their costumed pets for this fun event that benefits individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Warwick Drive-In – Who doesn’t love watching a movie under the stars? Warwick Drive-In is worth the trip – just make sure your dog doesn’t steal your popcorn!
Take it All in
Winter is arriving quickly in New Jersey, and we all know that means months of snow and cold. Grab the leash and hit the trail or dog park while you still can at one of these local dog-friendly outdoor areas:
- Walk the trails and take in the fall foliage at Rutgers Gardens.
- Bring your dog, friends, and some snacks and enjoy delicious wine in a gorgeous setting at Working Dog Winery (water provided for dogs only!)
- Experience a bit of New Jersey history as you and your pup traverse the Freehold and Jamesburg Railroad Trail. This is one of 1,600 unused railroad tracks that’s been turned into a hiking and walking path as part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
- Let Fido enjoy some good old fashioned off leash fun at one of our many local dog parks, such as Woodbridge Dog Park, Bicentennial Park, or Mercer County Dog Park.
Play it Safe
As always, your pet should be up-to-date on all vaccines and parasite protection, as well as be outfitted with a collar with current ID tags. Also update your pet’s microchip before heading out to a populated area.
If you have any recommendations for other pet friendly fun, we’d love to hear from you! Please don’t hesitate to contact the staff at Mobile Vet M.D. with any questions or concerns. We’re always here for you and your pet!
